WatchMerit
Trust & Security
Last updated: July 2026
This page is maintained by WatchMerit to answer common security, privacy, and safety questions about our platform. It describes controls that are enabled today. It is not a certification or audit report.
Vendor verification
- Every listing vendor is claimed by an authenticated account before going live.
- Australian vendors are validated against a checksum-verified ABN.
- Vendor identity remains hidden from public listings until a buyer submits a formal enquiry.
Buyer safeguards
- Every reference shows a fair-price band, market median, WatchMerit Score, and 12-month outlook so buyers can benchmark before contacting a vendor.
- Buyers can download a per-watch PDF report summarising price, rarity, demand, and liquidity.
- Listings priced far below the model's median are re-validated daily and removed if the source page disappears or is marked sold.
- All transactions happen directly between buyer and vendor β WatchMerit never takes possession of the watch or the funds.
Access & authentication
- Vendor and buyer accounts sign in over encrypted HTTPS.
- Session tokens are stored as httpOnly / secure where the browser supports it.
- Role-based access separates public visitors, authenticated buyers, and vendors.
Data protection
- All traffic is served over TLS.
- Application data is stored on managed cloud infrastructure with encryption at rest.
- Buyer contact details are shared only with the specific vendor whose listing the buyer chose to enquire about β see our Privacy Policy for full detail.
Reporting a security issue
If you believe you have found a vulnerability or a suspicious listing, please email info@watchmerit.com.au with the details. We aim to acknowledge within two business days.
Shared responsibility
WatchMerit provides market data, price benchmarking, vendor verification, and lead handling. Buyers are responsible for inspecting the watch and confirming authenticity before payment. Vendors are responsible for the accuracy of their listings and for honouring the terms they present to buyers.
