WatchMerit is an independent price index and connection layer between watch buyers and vetted vendors. We do not hold your watch and we do not touch your money. Here is exactly what we do.
We aggregate listings from across the market
Every day, a scraper pipeline crawls dozens of Australian and international dealer sites, capturing reference number, condition, box/papers, and asking price. Editorial articles, brand press pages, and auction catalogues are excluded so the price signal stays clean.
We compute a median and a fair-price band
For every reference we monitor, we compute a rolling market median in AUD. Around that median we draw a ±5–15% fair band. Anything at or below the median is a good buy. Anything above the band is overpriced.
We score every listing on more than price
Each listing gets a WatchMerit Score /100 built from price fairness, collector demand, rarity, liquidity, brand strength, and a 12-month outlook. Detail pages also show insurance value, best buy range, and a downloadable PDF report.
Vendors are verified before any listing goes live
Every vendor account is claimed by an authenticated user and validated before listings go live. Vendor identity is hidden from public listings until a buyer submits a formal enquiry.
You enquire, we hand off the introduction
When a buyer submits an enquiry on a listing, we notify the vendor with your reference number, contact details, and a short note. The vendor reaches out directly. WatchMerit is not a broker — the trade happens directly between you and the vendor.
We re-validate everything, every day
Listings priced far below their model median are re-fetched daily. If the source page disappears, is marked sold, or no longer mentions the reference, we mark it sold or remove it. Fresh listings replace them automatically.
What WatchMerit is not
